CV

Lives and works in Sydney, Australia.

Since 1999, Cherine Fahd has produced an extensive range of photographic work presenting a contemporary approach to the genre of portraiture. Her work is typically created in series, creating typologies of people, actions and themes that explore the body, concealment, and the performance of identity.

Her images often reflect on photography’s connections to sculpture and painting. She attributes this to her undergraduate studies in drawing, painting and sculpture at the College of Fine Arts, UNSW (Bachelor of Fine Arts, Honours 1993-1997), where she also achieved a Master of Fine Arts (2003). In 2016 she was awarded a Doctorate (Fine Arts) from Monash University, Melbourne, for her research titled, Hiding From the Camera For the Camera.
