Born, New Zealand. Lives and works in Sydney, Australia.
Carla Hananiah graduated from the University of New South Wales with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Masters in Art. She is currently completing a second Master of Fine Arts at UNSW with a major in painting.
Her work responds to a classic theme in art history of man’s relationship with nature through a series of tumultuous and poetic landscape paintings that also have significant contemporary relevance for the threat of global warming and environmental degradation.
Carla Hananiah has been exhibiting since 2004 and has been a finalist in a number of prestigious art prizes including: the Norvill Art Prize, the John Leslie Art Prize, the Blacktown Art Prize, the Waverley Art Prize, the Liverpool City Art Prize, the Mosman Art Prize and the Lloyd Rees Art Prize. Her work can be found in both private and corporate collections.
