| Georgina Beier BIOGRAPHY |
|||
| Georgina Beier (b 1938 UK ) has spent a life of artistic endeavour as artist and mentor in Europe , Africa and Oceania . Her works are a distillation of the essence of this cultural experience, much of it spent with the Yoruba people of Nigeria who have honoured her with Chieftain status. Her art is beyond the boundaries of any one culture. Line is the active ingredient. Strong, sinuous, snaking lines of assured fluidity are spontaneously released onto the paper with the scale and rhythm of ritualized dance. Her evocative works which have an innocent unpretentious eroticism, depict the elemental life forces of birth, death and the infinite possibilities of human relations. Georgina Beier has exhibited worldwide, including 27 solo exhibitions around the world one of which was at the Tate Gallery, London , in 2001. She is represented in major international collections. |
